Indications
The high-sensitivity CRP test (hs-CRP) measures levels of C-reactive protein, a marker used to assess the risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as coronary artery disease and stroke. Additionally, the hs-CRP test can detect low-grade (latent) inflammation related to lifestyle factors.
Elevated levels of hs-CRP are associated with reduced volume in the hippocampus, gray matter, and white matter (Source).
Additional Information
This test is specifically designed for cardiovascular risk assessment and evaluation of low-grade inflammation. It is not suitable for diagnosing acute infections; for that purpose, a standard CRP (P-CRP) test is recommended.
